A couple of weeks ago, the Snakebite Racing Team raced at the “Arm Drop Live” event at Toronto Motorsports Park. This was a fun event to race at because it was very laid back and arm drop racing is very different from regular ET racing. It was also cool meeting Rich Christensen.

On Thursday, we loaded the truck and trailer and headed to Morrison Automotive to do a few small things on the car such as putting the recently tuned up carburetor back on the car. This was supposed to be an easy day where we could get the car on the hoist and check a few things. It turned out to be just the opposite. After we put the carb back on, we decided to do a few minor tweaks to it. As we were adjusting the carb, a piece of transmission line snapped and we had to order a new piece. After we put that on, we started the car to check for leaks. As we were starting the car, the fuel pump quit. This was a very frustrating day but we managed to make it to Cayuga.

A few weeks ago, I attended the Mid America Truck Show in Louisville Kentucky. It was a great experience and I hope that I will get to go again next year. It was a little awkward at first because everyone wanted to come up and shake my hand. I quickly got used to it after about an hour. I also enjoyed when we were unloading the car and everyone around stopped what they were doing and watched. After we unloaded the car, we set up everything then went to bed to prepare for the next day.

I woke up to the sound of my dad whispering “wake up sleeping teenager”. After that I quickly got up and headed over to baked bean’s tent for a quick bite to eat. After we ate some bacon and eggs, we decided to head over to the truck show. The truck show was ten times bigger than I expected it to be. There were more displays everywhere we looked. Just when I thought we saw it all there would be another section that we had to go to. After about four hours in the show, we decided to call it quits for the day and head back to the trailer. Back in the parking lot, I was still meeting lots of new people. That night, we unveiled the car. It was pretty exciting starting the car with so many people watching. After giving a few more t-shirts to supporters, I decided to go to bed.

Brians Racing Report

The labour day weekend was another successful weekend of racing. On Friday, we had to install the new transmission cooler in order to race. After that, we rushed to get one time trial in, and it was a decent run. Then we decided to call it quits for the night and head to bed.
The next day we woke up early and got the car ready for time trials. We ran decent passes in both top and mod. All of our runs were fairly consistent so we were happy about that. It was just another weekend at the races. We were running both top and mod so we really had to cool the car down fast so it will be ready to race at a moments notice. After we did all of our time trials, we had a pretty good idea on what the car should run. We advanced to the second round of mod, so we were happy about that. We weren’t so lucky in top though; getting eliminated first round. We also got eliminated second round mod as well.
On Sunday, it was a repeat of Saturday. We went one round in mod and got eliminated first round top. Our times were fairly consistent, so we were happy about that. Although, when I was driving the car onto the trailer, something didn’t sound right. The engine sounded unhealthy, which is always a bad thing. We will eventually have to take the car to the shop and see what’s wrong with the motor. Until then, we won’t be racing for a while.
